A very good start to the 2019 year: continuing strong growth of revenue and results
On the occasion of Produrable, a European meeting of actors and solutions for the sustainable economy held yesterday in Paris, Antoine Frérot - CEO of Veolia and President of the Institut de l’entreprise – talked about what having a “raison d'être” can bring to a business. His contribution was in the framework of a conference alongside Olivia Grégoire, president of the special commission charged with examining the PACTE bill in France’s National Assembly.
Since tropical cyclone Idai hit the coastal city of Beira in Mozambique on 14 March, the country has faced an unprecedented emergency. Veolia and Yara, a group specializing in crop nutrition, yesterday signed an agreement to develop the circular economy in Europe's food and agriculture production chains by recycling nutrients in closed loops.

Under this new contract, tied in with the French law on the energy transition, every year 185,000 metric tons of waste will be recovered in the form of energy in the Couëron Waste Treatment and Recovery Center (CVTD). Consequently 30,000 MWh of electricity (the annual consumption of 1,900 homes) and 75,000 MWh of heat (the annual consumption of 7,100 homes) will be produced. The heat from waste recovery will supply steam to the Nantes district heating network, as well as to an industrial site. The new contract will begin on 1 March 2019, for a period of 15 years.
