From 26 to 30 June, students from Veolia partner universities and schools around the world were invited to experience 5 days of intense immersion in the world of the Group. On the programme: an overview of all the business lines, meetings with Group professionals and multicultural working groups focusing on practical issues. It's an opportunity to understand the challenges of ecological transformation and to work together to imagine the solutions of tomorrow.
60 students, 5 continents, 26 countries, 59 universities
Lucille Delubac, Veolia's Director of Talent and HR Development, and Sophie Duval-Huwart, the Group's Director of Strategy, opened this 14th annual session. This 100% digital summer school, which also included a face-to-face visit for each student to a Veolia site in their country of origin, took place over 5 days, punctuated by team work on the major subjects of ecological transformation - 13 working groups for 13 concrete cases on decarbonisation, depollution, sustainable resource management, etc. The students were also able to discover all of Veolia's activities through meetings with more than 38 experts and to benefit from training courses, as well as moments of intercultural exchange and fun. And to top it all off, the students had the chance to talk to a very special guest: François Gemenne, co-author of one of the IPCC reports.
"We're not just dreamers"
These are the words conveyed by Estelle Brachlianoff, CEO of Veolia, to the students of this new edition, explaining that although the Group adopts a positive and optimistic vision, it is nonetheless founded on a tenacious spirit.
The aim of this Summer School, which was set up in 2010, is to raise awareness among students pursuing environmental professions and the challenges that go with them, as for many this experience will prove decisive in their choice of career. The aim is for the majority of this young generation to become agents of change, joining the ranks of those who are already taking action to transform the world of tomorrow.
