A sustainable alternative to food waste landfilling

The agri-food industry generates large volumes of organic waste from fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, and bakery product processing. Veolia’s anaerobic digestion facility provides a local solution for treating up to 62,500 tons of food waste annually, avoiding landfill disposal.

Green energy and agricultural solutions

The EarthPower plant uses anaerobic digestion to convert food waste into biogas and organic soil improver:

  • Green electricity injected into the grid
  • Energy supply for over 4,000 households
  • Natural fertilizer for agriculture and horticulture
