At Veolia, sports and sustainability resonate together

In this season of competition, where the fruits of determination, achievement and team spirit inspire people around the world, Veolia is proud to share and promote these core values of sports each and every day.
Le sport et l'environnement font équipe gagnante

For over 20 years, the Group has implemented wide-ranging initiatives dedicated to movement and wellness in every area it operates. From supporting high-performance athletes to incorporating physical activity into employees’ daily routines, Veolia is committed to encouraging the benefits of sports, which provide an enjoyable way to build cohesion and improve performance.

Developing talent in every arena

Veolia’s Talents & Champions initiative supports 7 athletes at the top of their respective disciplines who complement their successful athletic endeavors with studies and enriching careers at Veolia. As their sponsor, the Group provides financial and other support to these employees, for example by adjusting their working hours to accommodate training schedules so they can advance professionally in a way that is compatible with the pursuit of high-level competition. Inclusivity, equal opportunity, mutual support, and diversity are central to this initiative and Veolia is delighted to be by these athletes’ sides as they give their all to earn a spot on the podium in Paris this summer, bringing to life the Group’s values of solidarity, tenacity and passion.

Water is the element in which I move every day, so it was only natural that I turned to this Group when I arrived in France. I was offered a permanent contract that was in keeping with my aspirations in October 2021 and, most importantly, I was given the opportunity to continue my career as a top-level sportswoman while adjusting my working hours and respecting my recovery time.

Corporate initiatives at all levels

At every level of experience and performance–from world champions to weekend warriors–Veolia is committed to encouraging physical movement and the positive values of sports. The indefatigable efforts and remarkable camaraderie of the Group’s 192 employee-athletes earned them an impressive 137 medals and a first-place win at the 2023 European company sports games. And thanks to the #LetsGetMoving campaign, part of the So’Well initiative targeting health and quality of life, Veolia teams have incorporated stretching into their morning routines to prevent injury, joined company sports clubs and participated in Diversity Races which have brought together nearly 6,000 participants around the world since 2014

Veolia has, for over twenty years, implemented company sports initiatives, conscious of the fact that wellness at work (in its physical, mental, and social aspects) is one condition of performance. These initiatives have expanded over the years to encourage various types of physical activity and sports in every country where Veolia is present.

Bringing sustainability to the forefront of sports

Veolia is likewise passionate about helping foster the values of sports beyond its walls and workforce. As a champion of the ecological transformation, Veolia supports responsible, environmentally-friendly games as an official partner of the padel championship at Roland-Garros. Shared values, such as inclusivity, the pursuit of excellence, and perseverance, make Veolia and padel a natural fit for each other as padel expands around the world. Veolia is also proud to be the official sustainable sponsor and partner of pickleball. Like padel, pickleball is accessible to all ages and experience levels and has recently been conquering hearts, and courts, around the world. In an unprecedented approach in the sports world, pickleball has incorporated ecological impact into its rules and practices to curb its environmental footprint. Veolia is keen to promote these promising and innovative practices and help pickleball become even more sustainable as the game continues to gain ground.

While results are key, it’s not just the number of goals scored or the time it takes to run a race that count. The values of sports–commitment, cooperation, endurance, and so many more–are values at the heart of Veolia’s culture that help our teams embrace challenges, celebrate wins, and learn from losses, all essential parts of working together to achieve a successful ecological transformation.
