Social entrepreneurship aims to implement projects and foster the emergence of innovative start-ups that have a strong local economic and social impact. Through its local presence and the nature of its activities, the Group is a particularly privileged partner in this innovation and growth dynamic.
Veolia’s global POP-UP scheme relies on partnerships with Ashoka, the world's largest social entrepreneurship network, and ESSEC Business School’s innovation and social entrepreneurship institute (IIES - Institut de l’Innovation et de l’Entrepreneuriat Social). POP-UP is already operating in 4 municipalities with local authorities and local social stakeholders.
- In Toulouse, Veolia is associated with the city of Toulouse and Midi-Pyrénées Active (which offers financial support to projects that aim to create jobs, especially for people experiencing difficulties) through the "Première Brique" ("First Brick") incubator.
- In Mexico City, the "SenseCube Agua Urbana" incubator, co-created with the Make Sense social entrepreneurship network, addresses water-related issues in urban setting.
- In Lyon, Veolia develops social innovations related to water and waste management through local partnerships with Ronalpia and Ashoka.
- Finally, the latest POP-UP social entrepreneurship incubator saw the light of day in Ile-de-France, co-driven by Antropia, ESSEC Business School’s social incubator.
