Veolia Summer School 2018: 38 students from 23 countries contribute to improving access to resources and protecting them
On Monday, 2 July, the students attending the 9th Veolia Summer School presented their work at Veolia headquarters in Aubervilliers in the presence of Antoine Frérot, Group Chairman and CEO.
Forming a multicultural team, the 38 Master 1 students come from universities and colleges in America, Armenia, UK, Germany, Italy, Ireland, China, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Hungary, Morocco, Mexico, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Argentina, Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Spain, and Australia.
In the 10 days of total immersion on the Veolia Campus in Jouy-le-Moutier (Ile-de-France), these students discovered the Group's activities. On the agenda: meetings with operational managers, site visits representing Veolia's business lines, and the opportunity to work together on a concrete case: water, energy and waste management in a new sustainable eco-district with 16,000 inhabitants, located at the intersection of three cities.
Selected by Veolia’s local managers, these students form a pool of talent for the Group. Some of them may in fact join Veolia at the end of their studies, for example in the form of an internship or by joining the Pangeo (International Voluntary Work in Business) program.
The students presented their work in the presence of Antoine Frérot and members of Veolia’s Executive Committee.
“ The goal of this Veolia Summer School is to strengthen the links between universities, students and Veolia in three key areas: diversity - in terms of geography, career paths and gender, commitment and responsibility in relation to environmental issues, and finally enjoyment and conviviality...”, concluded Antoine Frerot, addressing the participants.
Veolia Summer School has already trained 328 young graduates from 191 universities and 41 countries on sustainable development and circular economy issues. Veolia was the first company in the environmental services sector to launch a Summer School in 2010.
