Taking place this week in New York City from September 22nd to 29th, Climate Week NYC is the can’t miss climate event, bringing together thousands of economic, political, and civil society leaders around climate issues. A collective moment for reflection and inspiration on the path to a more sustainable future.
A key forum for climate action
As part of the 2024 edition of Climate Week NYC, Climate Group has organized more than 600 workshops, discussions, and activities across the city in partnership with the United Nations and the City of New York to accelerate progress toward the ecological transition and a low-carbon economy. The theme this year, “It’s time!” underscores the urgency of taking climate action to secure a more sustainable future. A message aligned with Veolia’s strategic program GreenUp 24-27, which aims to accelerate the deployment of tangible solutions for a successful ecological transformation.
Our ambition is to leverage our global expertise and innovation in the service of health, purchasing power, and natural resources, protecting these critical elements of life with solutions that meet current and future environmental challenges.

Protecting human health through ecological transformation
Health is one of the main themes shaping this year’s edition of Climate Week NYC and a priority that Veolia shares. 64% of people around the world feel exposed and vulnerable to a health risk, according to Veolia’s Ecological Transformation Barometer carried out in partnership with consulting and research firm Elabe. As individuals across the globe demand action to keep themselves, their families, and their communities safe, responding to these concerns is primordial for the Group, whose solutions for decarbonizing, depolluting, and regenerating resources work to create this healthy and desirable future.
Human health intrinsically linked to water
To take the example of water: no longer a distant threat, water scarcity is a reality for half of the global population for at least part of the year, and extreme weather events have highlighted the vulnerabilities in our water systems. The challenges extend beyond scarcity, with water quality an increasing concern due to emerging contaminants like PFAS and pesticide metabolites. As the world leader of water services and technologies, actively fighting water pollution, Veolia meets these challenges head-on to ensure affordable, high-quality and sustainable water for all.

Innovating for a secure water future
The Group is committed to addressing scarcity, environmental pollution, and affordability simultaneously. By leveraging its decades of global expertise and strong local ties, Veolia aims to protect health, purchasing power, and water resources through service-driven, innovative water management. This holistic approach ensures that all three priorities are met simultaneously and that solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each community. Among the objectives set out in Veolia’s strategic program GreenUp 24-27, the Group is dedicating €2 billion priority investments, out of €4 billion total, to strategic growth boosters including water technologies and new solutions.
Veolia’s environmental stewardship in action
Ecofactory - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States
Veolia has a 15+ years partnership to operate and maintain one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in the United States. This “ecofactory” transforms wastewater into valuable resources by harvesting energy, reducing costs, cutting carbon emissions and improving the local environment.
Veolia at the forefront of PFAS treatment
Veolia conducted a wide-ranging detection campaign in France in 2024 of 20 major regulated PFAS which demonstrated that more than 99% of drinking water supply points managed by Veolia are compliant with PFAS norms. A pioneer in the treatment of pollutants in drinking water, the Group proposes advanced, end-to-end solutions to treat contaminants around the world.
