Inaugurated by Prince Albert II of Monaco, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Burkina Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, and Thierry Vandevelde, Executive Officer of the Veolia Foundation, the CFPL was designed using a solidarity economy approach. People will be trained in first aid by the Burkina Faso Red Cross. A teaching hotel operated by a Burkinabe private group will provide training in hospitality industry trades making the centre financially independent.
Located in Loumbila, the land on which the CFPL is built covers 6.5 hectares. The Centre has training rooms, a restaurant area, sports fields, a water rescue structure, a market garden and a photovoltaic field. The building is the result of an upcycling operation reusing material from Monaco’s 2015 World Expo pavilion. The pavilion, built using an assembly of containers and certified High Environmental Quality (HQE) was donated to the Burkinabe Red Cross by Monaco
